If you hadn't noticed, we have been struggling with called third strikes. We had 7 in one 5 inning game in Fenton. There's only 15 outs in a 5 inning Game! So I made a deal with the boys a couple of games back. Everytime they had a called third strike, they owed me a team lap. That got their attention well enough, but we still had 3 key ones in tough situations. A ball put into play probably scores a run and wins rather than ties! So I raised the stakes and decided to throw a little carrot in with the stick. For each "legitimate" extra base hit, they earn back one of their laps. If they get more extra base hits than called strikeouts, then I owe them a set of 50 push-ups per the difference! I was ECSTATIC to do 50 after last game!
